ABSTRACT
The pathogenesis of heatstroke is a multi-factorial process involved with an interplay among subsequent inflammation, endothelial injury and coagulation disturbances, which makes pharmacological therapy challenging problem. Xuebijing injection (XBJ), traditional Chinese medicine used to sepsis, has been reported suppress inflammatory responses restore disturbances. However, little known about the role XBJ in heatstroke. Mice were treated indicated dose before and/or after induction Serum cytokines, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) interleukin-6 (IL-6), markers, von Willebrand Factor (vWF) E-selectin, measured by ELISA. Liver, kidney heart profiles including alanine aminotransferase, aspartic creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, lactate dehydrogenase, evaluated UniCel DxC 800 Synchron Clinical Systems, troponin was Coagulation profiles, thrombin time, prothrombin activated partial thromboplastin international normalized ratio, fibrinogen examined STA Compact® Hemostasis System. Jejunum H&E staining. Changes mitochondrial structure cardiac tissue assesed electron microscopy. Pretreatment decreased serum pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α IL-6, as well vWF dose-dependent manner mice. Similar protective effects observed when administered after, or both heat insult. These lasted for over 12 h mice receiving also improved survival rates mice, ameliorated liver, heart, injuries, damage reduced prevents organ injuries improves attenuating injury. may be potentially useful prevention treatment
