Nurses’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran: a qualitative study

ABSTRACT
Nurses are at the forefront of patient care during infectious disease pandemics and they play a key role in treating preventing upward trend disease. Hence, it is crucial to consider their experiences designing action plans combat coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Since there not enough data this regard, current study aimed investigate nurses' caring for patients with COVID-19 Iran.In descriptive qualitative study, total 20 nurses were selected by purposive sampling. Semi-structured interviews conducted analyzed using content analysis collect data.Data revealed four main themes, including 'duality form care,' 'confusion ambiguity planning', 'workload', 'social isolation spite positive image.'Our findings indicated that experienced range paradoxes pandemic; these included distraction from providing due focus on marginal factors empathy cooperation nurses, presence volunteer support staff despite lack equipment, scientific information unreliability online information, overload hospital insufficient facilities physical avoidance people community social media. The results can lead clear understanding managers healthcare policymakers country aid them taking optimal measures improve quality nursing against COVID-19.
