Chinese nurses’ perspectives on child-friendly healthcare practice assessment: a qualitative study

ABSTRACT
Nurses play a critical role in the implementation of child-friendly healthcare, ensuring that pediatric patients receive comprehensive and compassionate services. However, there is global scarcity research evaluating nurses' practices delivering healthcare. Therefore, this study focuses on exploring assessment healthcare from perspective nurses themselves. This descriptive qualitative employed purposive snowball sampling methods to recruit 14 six hospitals Zhejiang province, Southeast China. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted face-to-face between January June 2024. Data analyzed through content analysis approach. We identified 415 unique meaning units interview data, 332 which related practice assessment. These classified into 58 codes across 4 categories 17 subcategories. The four identified: services designed for children's interests, tailoring environment adapted children, facilitating social interactions, promoting childhood development. findings derived perspectives Chinese assessment, offering multidimensional view field. results reflect current state future direction China, will aid sustaining development evaluation system.
