ABSTRACT
Brassica oleracea includes several morphologically diverse, economically important vegetable crops, such as the cauliflower and cabbage. However, genetic variants, especially large structural variants (SVs), that underlie extreme morphological diversity of B. remain largely unexplored. Here we present high-quality chromosome-scale genome assemblies for two morphotypes, Direct comparison these identifies ~ 120 K high-confidence SVs. Population analysis 271 accessions using SVs clearly separates different suggesting association with intraspecific divergence. Genes affected by selected between cabbage are enriched functions related to response stress stimulus meristem flower development. Furthermore, genes involved in switch from vegetative generative growth defines curd initiation, inflorescence proliferation formation, maintenance enlargement, identified, providing insights into regulatory network development. This study reveals roles diversification morphotypes oleracea, newly assembled genomes provide rich resources future research breeding.
