ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Rabies kills approximately 59,000 people each year worldwide. Rapid and accurate diagnosis of rabies is important for instituting rapid containment measures advising the exposed postexposure treatment. The application a diagnostic tests in field can greatly enhance disease surveillance activities, especially resource poor settings. In this study, total 179 brain tissue samples collected from different suspect animal species (113 dogs, 50 cattle, 10 cats, 3 goats, 2 horses, 1 bear) were selected tested using both immunochromatographic kit reference standard fluorescent antibody test (FAT). We evaluated sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) negative (NPV) antigen detection produced by BioNote, Inc. (Hwaseong-si, Korea) relative to FAT its fit-for-purpose confirmation clinical cases early response enhancing surveillance. Results Among examined there was concordance results 115 54 samples. Test discordant which FAT, but (false negative) kit. showed sensitivity 92% (95% CI: 85.9–95.6) specificity 100% 93.4–100) as standard. values found be CI:96.7–100) 84.4% 73.6–91.3), respectively. Overall, 94.4% 90–96.9) agreement between (Kappa = 0.874) with percent 92 100%, Conclusions Our finding demonstrated that (BioNote) used confirming case animals making decisions particularly controlling outbreaks
