ABSTRACT
Our previous reports demonstrated that abdominal paracentesis drainage (APD) exerts a beneficial effect on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) patients. However, the underlying mechanisms for this effectiveness are not well understood.A retrospective cohort of 132 consecutive non-hypertriglyceridemia (HTG)-induced SAP patients with triglyceride (TG) elevation and pancreatitis-associated ascitic fluid (PAAF) was recruited from May 2010 to 2015 included in study. The were divided into two groups: APD group (n = 68) non-APD 64). monitored parameters mainly mortality, hospital stay, incidence further intervention, levels serum lipid metabolites inflammatory factors, related organ failure infections, severity scores. The demographic data scores comparable between groups. Compared group, primary outcomes (including stay percutaneous catheter drainage) improved. significantly lower after 2 weeks treatment than group. Logistic regression analysis indicated decreased extent free fatty acid (FFA)(odds ratio, 1.435; P 0.015) predictor clinical improvement treatment.Treatment benefits non-HTG-induced TG by decreasing FFA.
