ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a debilitating disease which involves multiple body systems (e.g., immune, nervous, digestive, circulatory) and research domains immunology, metabolomics, the gut microbiome, genomics, neurology). Despite several decades of research, there are no established ME/CFS biomarkers available to diagnose treat ME/CFS. Sharing data integrating findings across these essential advance understanding this complex by revealing diagnostic facilitating discovery novel effective therapies. Methods The National Institutes Health funded development sharing portal support collaborative efforts among an initial group three centers. This was subsequently expanded include global community. Using open-source comprehensive knowledge archive network (CKAN) framework as base, Data Management Coordinating Center developed online with metadata collection, smart search capabilities, domain-agnostic integration findability reusability while reducing barriers sustainable sharing. Results We designed mapMECFS facilitate allowing researchers browse, share, compare, download molecular datasets from within one repository. At time publication, contains curated public repositories, peer-reviewed publications, current Research Network members. Conclusions disease-specific improve collaboration around world. accessible broader community registration. Further ongoing biology methods.
