ABSTRACT
Two recent efforts to quantify the causes of maternal deaths on a global scale generated divergent estimates abortion-related mortality. Such discrepancies in mortality present an important opportunity explore unique challenges and opportunities associated with generation interpretation estimates. While innovations primary data collection estimation methodologies are much needed, at very least, studies that seek measure due abortion should endeavor improve transparency, acknowledge limitations data, contextualize results. As we move towards sustainable development goals beyond 2015, need for valid reliable has never been more pressing. The post-MDG agenda aims health, reduce health inequities, increase accountability, requires new novel approaches be tested measurement mortality, as well incidence, safety morbidity.
