ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study was to introduce a new restricted tangential volumetric modulated arc therapy (tVMAT) technique for whole breast irradiation and compare its dosimetric properties other currently used cancer radiotherapy techniques.Ten consecutive women with left-sided were enrolled in this retrospective study. Four treatment plans generated each patient: 1) standard field-in-field (FinF), 2) intensity (tIMRT), 3) VMAT two dual arcs 50-60° 4) continuous (cVMAT) 240°. created Monaco® (tIMRT, tVMAT cVMAT) Oncentra® (FinF) planning systems. With both techniques significantly higher cardiac avoidance, dose coverage homogenity achieved when compared FinF or tIMRT (p < 0.01). also decreased high areas (above 20 Gy) ipsilateral lung. There no significant differences mean contralateral between tVMAT, techniques. (V47.5 greatest cVMAT. However, cVMAT increase significant. The results support hypothesis that introduced is feasible cancer. With heart lung can be reduced homogeneity improved without increasing
