ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Esophageal carcinosarcoma (ECS) is a rare malignant tumor that often presents as an intraluminal polypoid lesion in the esophageal lumen. The pathogenesis of not clear and its etiology still being discussed. Case presentation We report case 68-year-old male who had dysphagia for approximately three months. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed irregular enhancing mass lower esophagus. Endoscopy gray-white with smooth surface almost filled lumen at location 28 cm from incisor tooth. Considering tumor, we opted Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy intrathoracic anastomosis through 5-port laparoscope uniport video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Pathological analysis comprised carcinoma situ pleomorphic sarcoma, without lymphatic metastasis. postoperative pathological stage was T1bN0M0, I (Japanese Classification Cancer 11th Edition). latest follow-up patient 14 months after surgery, no signs recurrence or metastasis were found. Conclusion This demonstrates malignancy peculiar histological composition. Successful VATS conducted 14-month follow-up.
