Huge mediastinal ancient schwannoma causing acute respiratory failure: a case report

ABSTRACT
Abstract Benign mediastinal tumor is usually asymptomatic and exhibits uncomplicated clinical course. Posterior schwannoma common, but a huge benign causing acute respiratory failure due to mass effect unusual. We present patient who suffered from improved after en bloc surgical resection. A 56-year-old woman had no history of systemic disease, experienced general discomfort malaise for several months. She was referred our emergency department developing sudden failure. Intubation performed with ventilator support she admitted the intensive care unit. Chest radiograph computed tomography showed over left pleural cavity lung, heart, compression. After resection, weaned off successfully discharged at 24 days operation. Postoperative outpatient follow-up symptoms. Mediastinal ancient rare posterior tumor. However, might lead lethal complications. En resection necessary curative treatment.
