ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Jordan is a collectivist society where fertility rated highly. Hysterectomy, therefore, has the potential to negatively impact woman’s standing in leading increased levels of anxiety and stress. Purpose To assess hysterectomy on anxiety, stress, body appreciation, social support among women. Methods A cross-sectional design was utilized recruit 251 women post-hysterectomy. The study used Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS), Enriched Social Support Instrument (ESSI), Body Appreciation (BAS). Results Sexual difficulties were experienced by majority. Severe reported 39% with around 89% reporting stress that moderate or higher. Overall, participants had appreciation high level perceived support. problems, post-surgery duration, predicted both desire for more children longer durations heightening Conclusion Hysterectomy impacts women’s mental health, are important facets buffering consequences hysterectomy. culturally sensitive healthcare addressing individual needs communities paramount.
