PSTEP: project for solar–terrestrial environment prediction

ABSTRACT
Abstract Although solar activity may significantly impact the global environment and socioeconomic systems, mechanisms for eruptions subsequent processes have not yet been fully understood. Thus, modern society supported by advanced information systems is at risk from severe space weather disturbances. Project solar–terrestrial prediction (PSTEP) was launched to improve this situation through synergy between basic science research operational forecast. The PSTEP a nationwide collaboration in Japan conducted April 2015 March 2020, Grant-in-Aid Scientific Research on Innovative Areas Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science Technology Japan. By project, we sought answer fundamental questions concerning aimed build next-generation forecast system prepare disasters. consists four groups proposal-based units. It has made significant progress forecasts, publishing over 500 refereed journal papers organizing international symposiums, various workshops seminars, summer school graduate students Rikubetsu 2017. This paper summary report describes major achievements it produced.
