ABSTRACT
Fungal morphology and aeration play a significant role in the growth process of Mortierella alpina. The production microbial oil rich arachidonic acid (ARA) M. alpina was enhanced by using multi-stage fermentation strategy which combined fed-batch culture with precise control agitation rates at proper times. period divided into four stages according to cultivation characteristics dissolved oxygen concentration well suited for ARA biosynthesis. Moreover, ultimate dry cell weight (DCW), lipid, yields obtained this reached 41.4, 22.2, 13.5 g/L, respectively. respective values represent 14.8, 25.8, 7.8% improvements over traditional processes. This provides promising insights mass ARA-rich on an industrial scale. Pellet-like fungal transformed rice-shaped particles were beneficial transfer thus highly suitable biomass accumulation.
