ABSTRACT
The therapeutic relationship between patient and physiotherapist is a central component of patient-centred care has been positively associated with better physiotherapy clinical outcomes. Despite its influence, we do not know what conditions enable to establish maintain relationship. This knowledge implications for how clinicians approach their interactions patients the development an assessment tool that accurately reflects nature Therefore, this study's aim was identify provide in-depth descriptions necessary engagement physiotherapists patients.Interpretive description qualitative methodological orientation used describe reflect are practically relevant practice. Eleven minimum 5 years experience seven adult musculoskeletal disorders were purposively sampled from private practice clinics in Edmonton, Canada. in-person, semi-structured interviews completed location participant's choice audio recorded transcribed. Qualitative content analysis analyze textual data constant comparison techniques integrated refine categories sub-categories. Rigour strategies throughout study peer debrief, interview notes, reflexive journaling, memoing, member reflections, audit trail, external audit.Four identified as establishing relationship: present, receptive, genuine, committed. These represent intentions attitudes engaging interaction.
