ABSTRACT
Background Association between tea consumption and incident hypertension remains uncertain. This study conducted to examine the health effects of on blood pressure progression incidence. Methods A population-based cohort 38,913 Chinese participants without at baseline were included in current study. Information was collected through standardized questionnaires. Associations with analyzed using logistic regression models Cox proportional hazards models, respectively. Results During a median follow-up 5.9 years, 17,657 individuals had experienced higher stage 5,935 developed hypertension. In multivariate analyses, habitual drinkers (≥ 3 times/week for least six months) 17% lower risk [odds ratio (OR) = 0.83, 95% CI: 0.79-0.88] 14% decreased [hazard (HR) 0.86, 0.80-0.91] compared non-habitual drinkers. Individuals different groups could obtain similar benefit from drinking. terms amount, an inverse, linear dose-response relation monthly leaves observed, while did not reduce further after consuming around 100 g per month.
