ABSTRACT
Introduction In late 2019, an epidemic outbreak emerges in China caused by a new coronavirus with high transmission and human infection potential which March 2020, was characterized WHO as pandemic. The lockdown has repercussions on the population’s well-being, reflected their food choices. There is tendency to increase consumption of energy dense food, rich fat carbohydrates, are related increased risk depression. Objectives main goal this non-systematic literature review understand impact Mediterranean Diet Mental Health promotion SARSCoV-2 Methods Literature from Pubmed database were searched, following keywords: COVID-19, Depression, Anxiety, Diet. Results Studies indicate that diet based associated decreased developing depressive symptoms, especially when there moderate adherence dietary pattern. High plant fish foods, reduced sugary products, processed red meats use olive oil source, principles diet, improvement endothelial function, levels eicosanoids serotonin synthesis regulation seem explain protective effect. Conclusions addition decreasing obesity, diabetes, hypertension, comorbidities most serious disease seems play important role promoting mental health, symptoms.
