Mapping mental healthcare professionals’ journey towards digital mental health adoption: A qualitative study

ABSTRACT
Introduction Digital Mental Health holds strategic potential in fulfilling populations’ mental healthcare unmet needs, enabling convenient and equitable access to healthcare. However, despite strong evidence of efficacy, uptake by providers remains low little is known about factors influencing adoption its interrelationship throughout the process. Objectives This study aimed at gaining in-depth understanding mapping along different stages Methods work adopted a qualitative approach consisting semi-structured interviews with 13 professionals, including both psychologists psychiatrists. The were transcribed analysed thematically, following Braun Clarke’s method. Results In this communication, we will describe how digital technology currently used clinicians deliver We identify characterize identified inherent appropriation process: i) Pondering appropriate use; ii) Contractualizing therapeutic relationship; iii) Performing online psychological assessment; iv) Adapting and/or developing interventions; v) Delivering vi) Identifying training needs. A discussion on impact process also be performed. Conclusions By characterizing journey process, intend inform ecosystem stakeholders, such as researchers, policy makers, societies industry, key adoption, so policies, programs interventions are developed compliance knowledge more easily integrated clinical practice.
