ABSTRACT
PURPOSE Variables used to build up the International Index for aggressive lymphomas (age, performance status, stage, extranodal involvement, and lactic dehydrogenase [LDH]) are also important in low-grade lymphoma. To assess prognostic value of this index lymphoma, we have applied it a series 125 patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred twenty-five patients with lymphoma who were diagnosed at single institution over 20-year period treated standard chemotherapy studied. End points study response therapy survival according Index. In addition Index, main initial evolutive variables evaluated. Univariate multivariate methods used. RESULTS After applying divided into four risk groups: low (36% cases), low-intermediate (32%), high-intermediate (20.8%), high (11.2%), complete (CR) rates groups being 60%, 35%, 23%, 21%, respectively. Ten-year overall as follows: low, 73.6%; low-intermediate, 45.2%; high-intermediate, 53.5%; high, 0% (P < .001). When was included analysis, along variables, .001) sex (male, worse) = .038) only parameters related survival. included, achievement CR .0001) most factors. achieved CR, parameter .051). The results same when subset 107 follicular CONCLUSION study, has been found be an tool lymphomas. Such could predict prognosis not aggressive, but
