ABSTRACT
e13166 Background: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the process wherein polarized and cohesive epithelial cells lose their characteristics acquire a mesenchymal phenotype proceed to invasive form of tumor. Numerous regulators play role in complex signaling pathways that mediate EMT process. This study aims investigate immunohistochemical (IHC) expression several EMT-related markers implications on diagnosis prognosis breast cancer cohort Arab descent women. Methods: Patients treated surgically for in-situ between 2017-2020 were included study. Expressions Ki-67, Transforming growth factor- β (TGF-β), NF-kappaB (NF-kB), Snail, Vimentin, E-cadherin (E-Cad), B-catenin (B-Cat) evaluated by IHC tissue microarray slides, as per guidelines literature. We examined association tumor other clinicopathological variables prognosis. Fisher's exact tests utilized compare categorical groups. Results: One hundred eleven patients included, 65.8% had ductal carcinoma (IDC); 19.8% lobular (ILC); 13.5% both features, 0.9% situ. 91 (54.1%) grade 2 303 (41.4%) 3 tumors. Most tumors ER positive (81.8%), PR (75.7%), HER-2 negative (77.5%). The median age at was 52 years. High TGF- associated with higher frequency (p=0.036), AJCC stage III (p=0.042), larger size (p=0.036) compared those low TGF-B expression. B-Cat risk death (HR, 3.90; 95% CI, 1.19 15.93; p=0.024). IDC statistically significant increased (69.9% vs.45.5%, p=0.045), E-Cad (76.7% vs. 13.6%, p<0.001), (P 39.7% 0%, p<0.001) when ILC. overall survival 1 5 years 96.3% (95% 92.7-99.9) 81.7% 73.8-90.3), respectively. Conclusions: Tumors high exhibit more aggressive clinical behavior, suggesting potential prognostic therapeutic value these markers. Due limited research focused women, findings from this may provide foundation extensive molecular studies assess validity utility biomarkers diverse ethnic backgrounds.
