ABSTRACT
742 Background: Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is a widely utilized procedure for the diagnosis and treatment cancer (BC). Despite its well-established role, TURBT associated with relatively high rate postprocedural complications. This study aimed to provide an update on most prevalent complications following TURBT, using data from American College Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) 2022 database. Methods: The ACS NSQIP database was queried all patients who underwent TURBT. Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes 52234, 52235, 52240 were used identify size-specific TURBTs. Standard statistical analysis R version 4.4.1 performed determine Results: A total 9,448 TURBTs included in our analysis. Median age 73 years old (IQR: 58-88), 2,315 females 7132 males that received within cohort. Patients concurrent procedures removed final analyses, but those intravesical chemotherapy or ureteroscopy retained. overall complication 8.04% 2022. Postprocedural urinary tract infection (UTI) - 30 days after common complication, accounting 4.5% 160 1.7% found more than one complication. There no significant differences by sex (p = 0.129 p 0.124); however larger tumors related higher likelihood post-operative Conclusions: Serious adverse are rare generally safe procedure. However, suggests UTI may be marginally previously reported patients. key limitation this inability report serious – i.e. perforation TUR syndrome due database’s capture detailed case-specific data.
