ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to describe the recent epidemiology mortality from subarachnoid hemorrhage in United States.Subarachnoid is distinct other forms stroke its risk factors, demographics, and treatment. However, it often clustered with subtypes, obscuring unique epidemiology. We analyzed data National Center for Health Statistics States years 1979 1994 compared subtypes.Age-adjusted rates were 62% greater females than males 57% blacks whites. median age death 59 73 intracerebral 81 ischemic stroke. Mortality have decreased by approximately 1% per year since 1979, mean has steadily increased 57 60 1994. Subarachnoid accounted 4.4% but 27.3% all stroke-related potential life lost before 65, a measure premature mortality. proportion due comparable (38.5%) intracranial (34.2%).Subarachnoid an uncommon cause occurs at young age, producing relatively large burden mortality,
