ABSTRACT
The segmental heritage of all vertebrates is evident in the character vertebral column. And yet, extent to which direct translation pattern from somitic mesoderm and de novo cell tissue interactions column remains a fundamental, unresolved issue. elements under debate include both anteroposterior regional specificity. Understanding how segmentation positional identity are patterned requires understanding cellular developmental biology. In this study, we characterized alignment somites vertebrae, distribution individual sclerotome progeny along axis development axial skeleton zebrafish. Our clonal analysis zebrafish shows that anterior posterior somite domains not lineage-restricted compartments with respect but support ‘leaky’ resegmentation Alignment vertebrae suggests first two do contribute Characterization allowed examination relationship between formula expression patterns Hox genes. results co-localization boundaries hoxc6 homologs cervical/thoracic transition also suggest Hox-independent patterning regionally specific vertebrae.
