ABSTRACT
SUMMARY Two full-length cDNA clones encoding the skeletal myosin light chain 2 (MLC2; 1452bp) and 3 (MLC3; 972bp) were isolated from a library prepared gilthead sea bream Sparus aurata larvae. The MLC2 encoded predicted protein of 170 residues that was 79% identical to rabbit over entire length 87% within Ca2+-binding region. deduced amino acid sequence MLC3 153 in 91% 69% zebrafish MLC3, respectively. Northern blot analysis revealed adults both transcripts expressed fast white muscle only. appeared earlier development: detectable beginning segmentation, whereas did not appear until 27h post-fertilisation. At this developmental stage, second transcript 0.89 kilobase-pairs present. MLCs exhibited different age-related pattern response varied thyroidal states, which experimentally induced by administration 1μgg−1bodymass thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3), 5ngg−1bodymass hypothyroidal compound thiourea; expression significantly affected, levels elevated only juvenile after T4. Although mechanism regulation MLC remains unknown, present results suggest regulatory mechanisms exist for MLCs.
