Women’s perceptions and attitudes to the use of AI in breast cancer screening: a survey in a cancer referral centre

Although breast cancer screening can benefit from Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is still unknown whether, to which extent or under conditions, the use of AI going be accepted by general population. The aim our study evaluate what females who are eligible for know about and how they perceive such innovation.We used a prospective survey consisting 11-multiple-choice questionnaire evaluating statistical associations with Chi-Square-test Fisher-exact-test. Multinomial-logistic-regression was performed on items more than two response categories. Odds ratio (OR) 95% CI were computed estimate probability specific according patient's characteristics.In 800 analysed questionnaires, 51% respondents confirmed have knowledge AI. Of these, 88% expressed positive opinion its in medicine. Non-Italian associated belief having deep awareness often Italian (OR = 1.91;95% CI[1.10-3.33]). Higher education level better opinions medicine 4.69;95% CI[1.36-16.12]). According 94% respondents, radiologists should always produce their own report mammograms, whilst 77% agreed that as second reader. Most (52%) considered both software developer radiologist held accountable errors.Most undergoing Institute approve introduction AI, although only support radiologist, not substitution thereof.
