ABSTRACT
Knowledge of the nutrient content edible seeds oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) as a food resource for rural people, is incomplete and there need studies that will provide this information. The collected from 12 different locations in primary distribution area Turkey were investigated their oil fatty acid composition. contents these populations determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) acids methyl esters (FAME). various tree found to contain total amount ranging 44.66% 49.07%, which was primarily composed oleic, linoleic, palmitic, gadoleic acids. As predominant unsaturated acid, no difference among percentage oleic with highest saturated palmitic Ordu-Akkuş population (13.85%), where species made optimal development, while lowest value Kahramanmaraş-Andırın (7.14%), an isolated species. In study populations, major acids, on other hand This highlights potential nutrient-rich source due high fat content.
