Students’ perception and scores in Paediatrics end-of-clerkship and final professional Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE): A comparative study

ABSTRACT
Objectives: This study aims to understand students’ perception of the usefulness end-of-clerkship (EOC) as compared professional exam Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) and compare student performance in both examinations.
 Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional medical students who were studying final year at Shifa College Medicine, Tameer-e-Millat University, appeared exams. The was October 2019. data collected through self-constructed questionnaire. scores all participants also recorded. obtained analyzed on IBM’s statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 23 (IBM, Armonk, NY). Descriptive statistics used qualitative variables. Mean standard deviation calculated quantitative Chi-square test applied assess significant differences.
 Results: Out 115 participants, 57 (49.6%) males 58 (50.4%) females. Most (75.7%) agreed that OSCEs well-structured. Participants found exams give good cross-section paediatrics allowed them learn something new (p=0.00). 45% perceived OSCE helped orienting by identifying their weaknesses.
 Conclusion: Although EOC served preparatory exercise, it did not alleviate stress levels. However, results comparable satisfied with current weightage marks distribution.
