Biodiversity changes along the Algerian coast (Southwest Mediterranean basin): from 1834 to 2017: A first assessment of introduced species

ABSTRACT
“Introduced” species of the Algerian coast remains most undocumented issue in Mediterranean Sea. Only few studies were dedicated to Introduced due lack taxonomists. In-depth research on along should provide new data that could explain spreading mechanisms southwestern part basin particularly near Alboran among other related research; which outcome is expected next years, progress southwest basin. The aim this work an inventory available pertaining marine “introduced” waters, whether these introduced intentionally or accidentally. This large number records covers period from 1834 December 2017. Seventy have been recorded coast, composed by 55.7% true aliens25.7 % range expanding species, 15.7% cryptogenic and 2,9% vagrant with a clear domination fish (38.57%) macroalgae (30%). Approximately 348 introduction events reported; 64,9 them belong one sighting out two done central region. distribution status Algeria evaluated. In total, 20% can be considered as established particular macrophyta, Codium fragile Ulva lactuca well Oculina patagonica, while Asparagopsis armata, A. taxiformis Caulerpa cylindracea are invasive.
