ABSTRACT
<ns3:p>Introduction Current dietary assessment methods struggle to accurately capture individuals’ habits. The ‘Standardised and Objective Dietary Intake Assessment Tool’ (SODIAT)-1 study aims assess the effectiveness of three emerging technologies (urine capillary blood biomarkers, wearable camera technology) two online self-reporting tools monitor intake. Methods This randomised controlled crossover trial was conducted at sites (Hammersmith Hospital University Reading) aimed recruit 30 UK participants (aged 18-70 years, BMI 20-30 kg/m<ns3:sup>2</ns3:sup>). Exclusion criteria included recent weight change, food allergies/intolerances, restrictive diets, certain health conditions medication use. Volunteers completed an screening questionnaire via REDCap eligible attended a pre-study visit. Participants consumed, in random order, highly-controlled diets (compliant/non-compliant with guidelines) for four consecutive days, separated by least one-week. intake monitored daily using cameras self-recorded Intake24 (24HR). Two versions eNutri FFQ were completed: baseline habitual diet on day 4 each test period record Urine samples collected biomarker analysis. Data analysis will reporting accuracy across these Lin’s concordance correlation coefficient. Discussion ethical considerations SODIAT project introduced novel approach assessment, aiming address limitations like misreporting inclusivity. However, challenges persist, such as variability data due failure follow sample storage requirements practicalities wearing throughout day. To protect privacy, removed inappropriate times, AI non-food related images blurred faces/device screens captured images. setting be evaluated this study. Future studies are planned validate further free-living minority populations.</ns3:p>
