ABSTRACT
During March 2009 a novel Influenza A virus emerged in Mexico. We describe the clinical picture of pandemic (H1N1) cancer patients during influenza season.Twelve centers participated multicenter retrospective observational study with confirmed infection H1N1 (influenza-like illness or pneumonia plus positive PCR for respiratory secretions). Clinical data were obtained by chart review and analyzed. From May to August 2009, 65 collected. Median age was 51 years, 57 % female. Most (47) had onco-hematological cancers 18 solid tumors. Cancer treatment mainly consisted chemotherapy (46), stem cell transplantation (SCT) (16). Only 19 64 received seasonal vaccine. presentation included (43) upper tract (22). Forty five 58 ambulatory admitted. Mechanical ventilation required 12 (18%). Treatment oseltamivir monotherapy combination amantadine median 7 days. The global 30-day mortality rate 18%. All deaths among non-vaccinated patients. No observed vaccinated Oxygen saturation <96% at predictor (OR 19.5; 95%CI: 2.28 165.9).In our patient population, associated high incidence (66%), (18.5%). Saturation significantly death.
