Providing bilingual COVID-19 educational material for the border region during the pandemic

ABSTRACT
<ns3:p><ns3:bold>Background: </ns3:bold>Studies show that the introduction of early public health interventions correlates with decreased rates transmission and reductions in mortality resulting from epidemic or pandemic events.</ns3:p><ns3:p> <ns3:bold>Methods:</ns3:bold><ns3:bold> </ns3:bold>Medical educators students Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso created Paso-Health Education Awareness Team (EP-HEAT) to educate at-risk populations border region. The English Spanish material by EP-HEAT included information about disease symptoms, transmission, preventive measures mental resources. An online, anonymous survey was distributed attendees obtain feedback on provided coronavirus (COVID-19) educational material.</ns3:p><ns3:p> <ns3:bold>Results: </ns3:bold>The results showed over 90% participants agreed informational pamphlets increased their awareness knowledge COVID-19.</ns3:p><ns3:p> <ns3:bold>Conclusions:</ns3:bold> In this study, COVID-19-related virtual workshops pamphlets, designed increase COVID-19, mitigate spread severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) how address issues related pandemic. A majority strongly COVID-19 developed helped raise awareness, understanding, importance education SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.</ns3:p>
