ABSTRACT
A collection of 418 Spanish barley accessions was screened for resistance to leaf rust in the field at Córdoba, Spain during 2002–2003 season. Six displaying lowest disease severity with no macroscopically visible necrosis were selected further studies on components resistance. Five them showed a significantly higher relative latency period than susceptible line L94 and similar partially resistant Vada. All lower infection frequency smaller colony size under controlled conditions. Histological indicated that four these based percentage early aborted colonies not associated host cell necrosis. In remaining two accessions, hypersensitivity.
