ABSTRACT
We have previously reported that the administration of a large amount di(n-butyl)phthalate (DBP) increased conversion ratio tryptophan to niacin in rats. In present experiment, effect di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) on and how altering depended concentration DEHP were investigated elucidate toxic mechanism phthalic acid esters (PhE). Rats fed with diet containing 0%, 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.5%, 1.0%, or 3.0% for 21 days. To assess niacin, urine samples collected at last day experiment measured metabolites tryptophan-niacin pathway. The increasing dietary above 0.05%; was about 2% control group, whereas it 28% group. It is suggested inhibition α-amino-β-carboxymuconate-η-semialdehyde decarboxylase (ACMSD) by its caused this increase ratio. conclude PhE such as DBP disturbed tryptophan- metabolism.
