ABSTRACT
To assess the relationship between pH and temperature in ruminal bottom fluid, circadian changes were monitored using cows fed a control diet (C diet) or rumen acidosis-inducing (RAI by wireless radio-transmission pH- measurement system. These two parameters measured simultaneously at 10-min intervals on day 14 after commencement of feeding. Compared to mean for 60 min immediately morning feeding (0 hr), significantly lower was noted 3–13 hr later (P<0.05) 4–19 (P<0.01) C RAI diets, respectively, although reduction latter much higher than that former. In contrast, found 8 12–14 6, 8, 10–19 respectively. A significant negative correlation observed lowest its corresponding diets (r=-0.722 -0.650, P<0.01, respectively), suggesting active fermentation volatile fatty acid production rumen. However, profiles may not be predictable measuring only because decreases preceded increases temperature, associated with fermentation.
