ABSTRACT
Shortages in nursing staff have led to recruitment campaigns targeting nurses who left the profession. The present study explored reasons why career-break decide for or against a return practice, as well perceptions of following return. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 had returned recently profession and 28 on ‘career break’. Findings revealed that those did so when their personal circumstances allowed, half bank order work flexible, family-friendly hours. Some non-returners reported they could not afford because childcare costs. Although still caring one, nurse's role is seen by returners becoming increasingly technologically administratively demanding. Flexibility regard working practices, increased salaries demonstrating it values its staff, highlighted interviewees generally priority issues NHS if wishes recruit nurses.
