ABSTRACT
We studied the natural history of nontraumatic avascular necrosis femoral head (ANFH) in 115 hips 87 patients, 69 steroid-induced, 21 related to misuse alcohol and 25 idiopathic. The average length follow-up was over five years. Collapse occurred most often when focus bone occupied weight-bearing surface head. Flatness due subchondral fracture an early manifestation collapse. Classification into six types based upon radiographic findings provided accurate prognosis for individual cases ANFH which is useful planning treatment assessing its outcome.
