The genus Vitex is characterized by digitated compound leaves, bilipped corolla, didynamous androecium, axial placentation and drupaceous fruit. This study aimed at goals the inventory of species within state Bahia. There are 15 in state: agnus-castus, V. capitata, cymosa, flavens, gardneriana, hypoleuca, martii, megapotamia, mexiae, orinocensis, polygama, rufescens, schaueriana, sellowiana, triflora.
