ABSTRACT
High Andean peatbogs are key functional wetlands in the dry Puna region and essential conserving local biodiversity, including bird communities. We surveyed communities of 18 Argentinean (Salta Catamarca Provinces) to describe their species composition, patterns richness diversity; relationship landscape features environmental variables. In total, we registered 60 belonging 21 families during summer 2014–2015. Species ranged from six 20 per peatbog. The Bright-rumped Yellow-finch Sicalis uropygialis, Ash-breasted Sierra Finch Phrygilus plebejus, Golden-spotted Ground Dove Metriopelia aymara Miner Geositta punensis were most abundant representative species. change composition among showed a nested structure. present study is first one made for avifauna shows that with more irregular forms interconnected other support abundance diversity birds.
