Invasive Alien Plant Management: Attitude and Insights from Initao-Libertad Protected Landscape and Seascape, Misamis Oriental, Philippines

ABSTRACT
Invasive alien plant species (IAPS), when spread outside of their natural range, have the ability to outcompete and displace native species, disrupt ecosystem functioning, degrade habitats, thus becoming one major problems protected areas globally.This present study aimed assess current management strategies, challenges encountered, possible solutions combat IAPS in Initao-Libertad Protected Landscape Seascape (ILPLS) through Key Informant Interview (KII), employing both thematic analysis Chi-Square Test for Homogeneity.The results revealed that prevention, monitoring surveillance, control, are strategies implemented area, wherein manual grabbing pruning practiced control or eradicate IAPS.However, limited resources (40%), regulatory (33.33%), lack capacity (23.33%), awareness (10%) were identified impediments hinder progress.Furthermore, surveillance (73.33%), (46.67%), eradication prevention information education communication (IEC) (23.33%) effective options perceived by respondents dealing with area.The Tests Homogeneity indicated park rangers, conservation officers, Area Management Board (PAMB) members exhibit similar distributions responses regarding concept IAPS, prevalence ILPLS, level concern about impact overall condition ILPLS.However, a significant difference is observed chisquare statistic 2.273, 2 degrees freedom, Pvalue 0.026.These findings provide stakeholders essential formulate area.It recommended develop an invasive checklist enhance efforts stakeholders.
