ABSTRACT
Objective: To ananlyze the characteristics of vestibular evoked myogenic action potential patients with residual dizziness after successful canalith repositioning procedures(CRP)for idiopathic benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(IBPPV).Method: Ninety-seven consecutive IBPPV unilateral posterior semicircular canal and health controls were initially enrolled. The received 500 Hz tone burst ocular potentials(oVEMP) cervical potentials (cVEMP). After successfully CRP, divided into two groups: group symptoms without symptoms. abnormality results both oVEMP cVEMP compared between three groups.Result:In symptoms, abnormal rate 64.5% for 28.1% cVEMP. In 17.9% 12.5% in was significantly higher than that symptoms(χ²=19.228, P=0.000). However, there no significant difference these groups(χ²=3.342, P=0.068).Conclusion: underwent CRP,the occurrence is correlated to abnormalities oVEMP. It indicated dysfunction utricle related presence CRP IBPPV.
