ABSTRACT
This research aimed to determine the characteristics of motor vehicle exhaust emissions in plateau area. The PM2.5 was evaluated Caohai Tunnel Kunming for this study by measuring water-soluble inorganic ions, carbonaceous species, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and elements air samples. results showed that mass concentration tunnel about 225.65-312.84 μg·m-3, which is 11-14 times ambient atmosphere. species were most abundant constituting 35.73% total PM2 5 mass, followed 21.78% ions range 4.79%-5.52%. smallest proportion PAH, 0.25%-0.32%. Ca2+ SO42- concentrations highest among accounted 77.78%-80.17% from crust source. NH4+ NO3- are relatively high, coming mainly automobile exhausts. 4 6 ring PAHs with higher molecular weight lower volatility dominant components Tunnel. contributing very significant. poisonous single BaP 23-29 than state regulations exposure limit, it has reached a hazardous level. It obvious there health risks highway tunnel. A principal component analysis (PCA) sources road dust emission 61.64%, mechanical wear 17.49% tire 9.11% PM2.5. Under conditions hypobaric hypoxia Yun-Gui plateau, greater chance incomplete combustion fuels, resulting increase OC emissions.
