ABSTRACT
Optical fibers with a logarithmic index profile can provide invariant mode field diameters along tapered fiber, which enables adiabatic transitions for higher-order (HOM) microfibers. A microfiber waist diameter of ∼2 µm is fabricated an insertion loss lower than 0.03 dB the LP01 and 0.11 LP11 mode. The concept low HOM microfibers be further extended to include more one fiber 2×2 few coupler fabricated/characterized in our experiments. These single or multiple spatial channel are beneficial various applications, including particle propulsion, atom trapping, optical sensing space division multiplexed data transmission systems.
