ABSTRACT
The microring-assisted (MRA) Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator offers a potential solution to attaining highly linear optical modulators. In this paper, the influence of waveguide loss on linearity property MRA-MZ is analyzed. way choose biasing points introduced. Analysis shows that high, even at low-loss conditions. By properly setting phases, 2nd- and 3rd-order harmonic terms modulation curve can be removed. range reach 90% when round-trip microring less than 3 dB. maximum depth main factor limits large, but with proper power ratio between two arms MZ interferometer, intrinsic improved kept large.
