ABSTRACT
We describe a methodology to maximize slow-light pulse delay subject constraint on the allowable distortion. show that optimizing over larger number of physical variables can increase distortion-constrained delay. demonstrate these concepts by comparing optimum achievable using single Lorentzian gain line with pair closely-spaced lines. predict distortion management doublet provide approximately factor 2 in as compared single-line Experimental results employing Brillouin optical fiber confirm our theoretical predictions.
