Nutritional status of children under five years and associated factors in 24 districts of Burkina Faso

ABSTRACT
Malnutrition in children is a serious health problem, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, with heavy socioeconomic burdens. The prevalence of stunting remains high Burkina Faso. There need to further investigate undernutrition and identify the major factors contributing its persistence. We aimed assess nutritional status aged under five years associated conducted second study using baseline household survey impact assessment performance-based financing program. analysis focused on data 10,032 0-59 months collected from households 537 villages. Anthropometric indicators were assessed World Health Organization standards, their association children, mothers, households' characteristics logistic regression. Stunting occurred 40.1% wasting 25.1%, underweight 34%. Children having both stunting, wasting, 7.3%. was sex. ethnic groups: Fulani AdjOR = 1.20 (95%CI: 1.01-1.42), economic level: poorest 1.25 1.10-1.43), two more households: 1.16 1.05-1.27), distance than 5km facility: Adj OR 1.21 1.10-1.35) food insecurity. This identified modifiable that determine Strategies interventions improve community are needed reduce occurrence undernutrition.
