Sociocultural and patient-health care professional related factors influencing self-management of multiethnic patients with multimorbidities: A thematic synthesis

ABSTRACT
Self-management is critical for the general well-being and disease management of individuals with multimorbidities. A better understanding sociocultural patient-professional level factors affecting self-management can be valuable designing individual community-based strategies to promote optimal self-management. The purpose this review was explore patient-health care professional related among patients metasynthesis conducted. Literature searched in PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web Science, OVID databases. In total, 21 qualitative studies published from January 2010-March 2023 were critically appraised reviewed. Thematic synthesis used analysis eight descriptive three analytical themes generated. illustrated that personal structural vulnerabilities, social family struggles, fragmented interpersonal relationships health professionals affect access, navigation, Engagement multiple chronic conditions hampered by under-resourced community environments, familial conflicts, disjointed relationships. There a dire need ensure resources support address navigate complexities associated accessing effectively managing their illnesses.
