ABSTRACT
COVID-19 is mainly described as endothelial dysfunction, and due to the bidirectional link between oxidative stress we initiated a program directed evaluation of status population Rwanda by measuring spectrophotometrically their plasma Reactive Oxygen Metabolites (d-ROMs) Plasma Antioxidant Potential (PAT). The reference was chosen reflect absence actual or past SARS-CoV-2 infections well other clinically established infective intervals for d-ROM PAT were identified. average 378.6 UCARR with standard deviation 105.2, value significantly higher than that reported Caucasian East Asian (260-300 UCARR). 2853.6, 635.7 UCOR, at upper limit according averaged values healthy populations. results this study, first so far on sub-Saharan population, can effectively be used baseline clinical management inflammatory conditions, stratification at-risk individuals inform recommendations effective use public health resources.
