ABSTRACT
Our previous studies have confirmed that the crude tentacle-only extract (cTOE) from jellyfish Cyanea capillata (Cyaneidae) exhibits hemolytic and cardiovascular toxicities simultaneously. So, it is quite difficult to discern underlying active component responsible for heart injury caused by cTOE. The inactivation of toxicity cTOE accompanied with a removal plenty precipitates would facilitate separation investigation its mechanism. In our research, after treatment one-step alkaline denaturation followed twice dialysis, protein concentration treated (tTOE) was about 1/3 cTOE, SDS-PAGE showed smaller numbers lower density bands in tTOE. tTOE completely lost while well retained. observations cardiac function, histopathology ultrastructural pathology all support significant toxicity. Blood gas indexes electrolytes changed far less than those though still difference normal. summary, can exist independently be employed as better venom sample further purification mechanism research on toxic proteins.
