ABSTRACT
Newcastle disease (ND) is one of the most lethal diseases poultry worldwide. It caused by an avian paramyxovirus 1 that has high genomic diversity. In framework international surveillance program launched in 2007, several thousand samples from domestic and wild birds Africa were collected analyzed. ND viruses (NDV) detected isolated apparently healthy fowls birds. However, two thirds isolates this study classified as virulent strains NDV based on molecular analysis fusion protein experimental vivo challenges with representative isolates. Phylogenetic F HN genes showed recovered Mali Ethiopia form new groups, herein proposed genotypes XIV sub-genotype VIf reference to nomenclature described Diel's group. Madagascar, circulation genotype XI, originally reported elsewhere, also confirmed. Full genome sequencing five African was generated extensive phylogeny reconstruction carried out nucleotide sequences. The evolutionary distances between groups specific amino acid signatures each cluster allowed us refine nomenclature.
