To investigate staff and trainer perspectives on the barriers facilitators to implementing a complex intervention help support recovery of service users with primary diagnosis psychosis in community mental health teams.Process evaluation nested within cluster randomised controlled trial (RCT).28 interviews care staff, 3 trainers, 4 focus groups teams 28 written reports.14 community-based two UK sites (one urban, one semi-rural) who received intervention. The factors influencing implementation can be organised under over-arching themes: Organisational readiness for change Training effectiveness. comprised three sub-themes: NHS Trust readiness; Team Practitioner readiness. effectiveness Engagement strategies; Delivery style Modelling principles.Three findings inform future interventions. First, underlying model predicted that areas would important changing practice: skill development; intention implement; actual behaviour. This study highlighted importance targeting transition from practitioners' intent implement behaviour, using experiential learning target setting. Second, practitioners make inferences about organisational commitment by observing allocation resources, Knowledge Performance Indicators outcome measures. These need aligned values, principles practice. Finally, we recommend use tools as an inclusion criteria selecting both organisations RCTs. We believe this maximise likelihood adequate hence reduce waste research expenditure.Controlled-Trials.com ISRCTN02507940.
